Elk Grove Village man gets probation for attacking family member

A 27-year-old Elk Grove Village man who was holding a knife when he lunged at a male relative last June pleaded guilty to aggravated battery.

Jose Roman was sentenced to 90 days in Cook County jail and 24 months of probation, court records show. Roman was also ordered to pay $724 in fines and to spend 10 days in the Cook County Sheriff's Work Alternative Program.

Prosecutors say Roman got into an argument with a female relative at a family get-together and subsequently became angry at a male relative. They say Roman, who was holding a knife, lunged at the man.

No one was seriously injured, prosecutors said.
