Blackhawks front office helps pack holiday meals in Wheaton

His natural environment is anywhere near the ice, so it's really no surprise Blackhawks President and CEO John McDonough spent some time in the freezer section of a Wheaton food pantry Tuesday afternoon.

McDonough posted an assist helping clients of the People's Resource Center shop for holiday meals and groceries. McDonough, of course, didn't mind the chill loading turkeys into carts for families in need.

The visit by McDonough and other members of the Blackhawks front office has become a holiday tradition since the team started helping with shifts at the nonprofit's pantry in 2013.

"We always look forward to seeing the Blackhawks come and volunteer in our food pantry," said Susan Walker, the center's public relations and marketing coordinator. "It is wonderful to have their support during the holidays and all year."

The resource center also provides job training, GED prep classes, financial assistance and other programs.
