Police arrest teen they say threatened school shooting at Wauconda High

Wauconda police arrested a teen Tuesday night for threatening to shoot up Wauconda High School, according to reports.

Students notified Wauconda High School administrators of the video around 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Wauconda Police Department.

Officers arrested Karston H. Goodson, 18, of the 300 block of West Main Street, Yates City, Illinois, at his parent's house in the 700 block of Wood Creek Court in Island Lake about six hours later, and he was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony, police said in a news release.

Police described the video as "a continuous rant" via the smartphone application Snapchat that depicted a "graphic video of the offender stating, 'I will show you what a school shooter is.'"

The student sent the video threat to 40 other Wauconda High School students during school hours, according to police.

Administrators from Wauconda High School District 118 worked with Wauconda police to ensure students' safety and to preserve the video evidence, police said, adding that the partnership prevented major disruption to the school day.
