Palatine man gets 8 years for stabbing two others over cold meal
A Palatine man whose anger over a cold meal led him to attack two people was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday.
Duronn Adonis Fields, 32, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon stemming from an argument authorities say took place last spring in his apartment.
During his bond hearing, prosecutors said Fields became angry with some food a woman served to him about 10 p.m. April 16, 2017.
A relative arrived with his roommate and was confronted by Fields, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Shilpa Patel. Fields subsequently used a kitchen knife to stab the two men, who were treated for lacerations, Patel said.
Both men recovered from their injuries.
Fields, who was ordered to pay $654 in fines, received 212 days credit for the time he has spent in custody since his arrest.
