Shooting near Algonquin leaves police searching for info on suspect

McHenry County Sheriff's deputies are seeking witnesses to a shooting Thursday night in near Algonquin.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance about 11:25 p.m. on the 1600 block of Longview Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with serious gunshot wounds resulting from an altercation with what police describe as an acquaintance.

Police believe the shooter fled the scene on foot. A search by deputies and multiple police dog units yielded no results.

Police said they have no physical description of the suspect at this time. They are requesting any witnesses or neighbors who may have seen or heard anything call the sheriff's office with information at (815) 338-2144. Police believe the suspect left the immediate area. They said there is no danger to the public at this time, and the shooting isolated.

The shooting victim was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington. Police have not released the identity of the victim, but say a full recovery is now expected despite the severity of the wounds.
