Wheeling pedestrian seriously injured in Prospect Heights crash

A 35-year-old Wheeling woman was seriously injured Thursday morning after a car struck her in Prospect Heights.

The woman was walking in the intersection of Hintz and Schoenbeck roads when she was hit by a 2016 Toyota Corolla about 10:30 a.m., Prospect Heights police spokeswoman Stephanie Conboy said. She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by Wheeling Fire Department ambulance.

"There are definitely very serious injuries," Conboy said.

Prospect Heights police and the crash investigation unit for the Major Case Assistance Team, a group of 22 suburban police departments, were at the scene until about 3:30 p.m., when the road was reopened, police said.
