Victim in fatal Lake Villa-area fire identified
Lake County authorities today identified Curtis L. Alcorn as the man killed Tuesday after fire swept through a Lake Villa-area residence.
Alcorn, 56, was found dead in a bedroom of the home in the 36900 block of Corona Drive after firefighters responded to the blaze about 7:38 a.m. Tuesday. Alcorn owned and lived in the home, authorities said.
An autopsy conducted later Tuesday by the Lake County coroner's office determined the preliminary cause of Alcorn's death is related to the fire, but officials are awaiting further testing and toxicology results to make a final determination.
Authorities said the cause of the fire remained under investigation, but it does not appear suspicious and likely was started accidentally.
No other injuries were reported, officials said.
