Date set for MLK remembrance dinner

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. remembrance dinner is set for April 7, 2018, at the Chicago Marriott Northwest, 4800 Hoffman Blvd., Hoffman Estates, organizers said. The event has been held in January for the last 49 years. There are several reasons for the 2018 date change, including that April will mark the 50th anniversary of the dinner and the 50th anniversary of King's death, the event's chairman, the Rev. Clyde H. Brooks, said in a news release.
