Arlington Heights pastor: Goodness outweighs darkness in Las Vegas

About 100 people who prayed Monday night at St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights heard a message on how the power of love and goodness far outweighed the darkness in Las Vegas that resulted in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Full story here.

U-46 board member who made controversial flag comment apologizes for 'distraction'

Elgin Area School District U-46 board member Traci O'Neal Ellis offered an emotional apology Monday to her fellow board members, district employees and the community for the "distraction" caused by her Facebook post likening the American flag to toilet paper. Aurora man guilty of felony domestic battery

Kane County Circuit Judge John A. Barsanti on Thursday convicted David L. Jones, 66, of the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, of aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery, according to a news release issued Monday by the Kane County state's attorney's office. Full story here.

No injuries as fire hits 2 houses near Glen Ellyn

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a blaze Monday that did serious damage to one house and then spread across the lawn to a second residence on the 1N700 block of Forest Ave. near Glen Ellyn, authorities said. Full story here.

Aurora man guilty of cocaine possession

Kane County Circuit Judge James C. Hallock convicted Gilberto Montes, 39, of the 1000 block of Lisa Boulevard, of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Full story here.
