Buffalo Grove holding fire department open house Saturday

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department 22nd annual open house will feature vehicle extrication demonstrations, a junior firefighter challenge, hands-on fire extinguisher training and other activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at 109 E. Deerfield Parkway. There also will be equipment displays, a puppet show and an appearance by the Flight for Life helicopter, if available.

"Residents are invited to try their hand at extinguishing a fire with a portable fire extinguisher, and watch the difference that a home sprinkler makes for a room that is on fire," Chief Mike Baker said.

Free hot dogs and chips will be served. For information, call (847) 777-6110.
