Bartlett police arrest man on burglary, theft charges

Bartlett police arrested a former village resident Saturday on charges of burglary, theft and criminal trespass to residence, authorities said.

Shawn R. Williams, 26, formerly of the 400 block of Timber Ridge Drive in Bartlett, was arrested in a backyard on his former block, according to police.

Officers had first responded to a call of criminal trespass on the 600 block of Ford Lane at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. A homeowner repairing the vacant residence reported finding clothing and Williams' wallet with his driver's license and credit cards inside in a bedroom closet.

During the investigation, another homeowner on the 400 block of Timber Ridge Drive reported his unlocked vehicle had been burglarized and a propane patio heater stolen from outside his home.

Following Williams' arrest, the patio heater and an item reported stolen from the unlocked vehicle were recovered by police. Information on Williams' bond hearing was not immediately available.
