Summer temps, autumn fun at Des Plaines Fall Festival

With temperatures easily topping 80 degrees, it may not have felt much like fall outside Sunday, but that didn't discourage a crowd expects to number in the thousands from visiting Des Plaines' Lake Park to celebrate all things autumn.

The three-day Des Plaines Fall Fest wrapped up Sunday with live entertainment, games and activities for kids, arts and crafts, a carnival and more.

Organizers of the free event say its popularity has grown exponentially over the years, with attendance this year predicted to easily top 10,000 over the three days.

The kidsZone! area was popular with the younger set, especially the climbing wall, pony rides add special entertainment, including a reptile show, magic show and kids' Zumba fitness dancing.

For the grown-ups, main stage entertainment Sunday included performances by Nashville-based The Roosevelts, with and local favorite 7th heaven closing out the fest.
