Salvation Army giving hurricane response courses in Elk Grove Village

The Salvation Army in Chicago is offering specialized volunteer training sessions in Elk Grove Village for anyone who wants to help response efforts to hurricane battering the Gulf Coast.

The sessions are for volunteers interested in helping response efforts to Hurricane Harvey in Texas and potentially Hurricane Irma in Florida.

Here is the training schedule for the free courses at 1000 W. Pratt Blvd in Elk Grove Village:

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, volunteer emergency disaster canteen training.

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, volunteer emergency disaster canteen training.

• Noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, volunteer emergency disaster safe food handling.
