Buffalo Grove Police and Live4Lali partner to take back drugs

The Buffalo Grove Police Department has partnered with the non-profit organization, Live4Lali Inc., to offer area residents a chance to turn in unused or expired medications from 3 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the police station, 46 Raupp Blvd.

This event is being held in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day, Aug. 31 each year. The goal of the day is to raise awareness of the overdose epidemic and to reduce the stigmas surrounding drug overdose deaths. The day also acknowledges the struggles that family and friends face after the loss of a loved one.

While the police department has a permanent drug drop box in its lobby, residents are urged to be part of this international initiative. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 90 people die from overdosing on an opioid every day.
