Man in life-threatening condition after Fox Lake motorcycle crash

A 27-year-old man was thrown off his motorcycle in a crash Tuesday and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials say.

Officials initially called a helicopter to airlift the motorcyclist to a hospital after the crash at 4:28 p.m. on Grass Lake Road near State Park Road in Fox Lake, Fox Lake Fire Batallion Chief Brent Connelly said.

The man's conditioned worsened, however, and he was ultimately taken by ambulance to Centegra Medical Center, Connelly said.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured and an update on the 27-year-old's condition was not immediately available.

The motorcyclist was attempting to pass the vehicle in front of him on Grass Lake Road, when he struck the driver-side rear door of a four-door-car, Connelly said.

The area was closed to traffic while police investigated the crash. Fox Lake police were not immediately available to comment on further details or whether anyone was cited.
