Elgin man faces drug, gun charges

An Elgin man faces felony charges after police say they found him with two loaded handguns and illegal drugs Monday.

At 5:45 p.m. Monday, Elgin police officers stopped 20-year-old Darius Holt, of the 1800 block of Mission Hills Drive, in the area of Washburn and Vandalia Streets, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department's Facebook page Tuesday.

During a search, officers found two loaded handguns and drugs on Holt, according to the post.

Holt is charged with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

A Kane County judge set Holt's bond at $250,000 Tuesday. He is due back in court Aug. 30.
