Barrington Night Out rescheduled to Aug. 10

Barrington police have rescheduled their National Night Out event for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, when it will coincide with the village's Cruise Night festivities in the Harris Bank parking lot at Cook and Station streets.

The Night Out initially was scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3, but postponed due to weather.

An annual tradition hosted by the Barrington Police Department, the event will feature family-friendly activities including bingo, hula hoop contests, face painting, a magic show and kids' workshop kits; a visit by the crowd-favorite Chicago Mounted Patrol; free bike helmets and safety checks; a police dog demonstration; and the opportunity for kids to explore public safety vehicles.

Jewel and Heinen's grocery stores have generously donated free hot dogs and hamburgers for all attendees.

"It's a great evening full of fun and family-friendly activities," Police Chief David Dorn said in a news release. "But more importantly, it helps our community come together around the topic of public safety and provides education and awareness to people of all ages."
