Kane County authorities seeking man on marijuana growing charges

Kane County authorities are seeking a West Dundee man who has been charged with running a marijuana cultivation operation in his basement.

The Kane County State's Attorney this week charged 37-year-old Vladimir Srebnik, of the 1300 block of Chadwick Court, with unauthorized production of cannabis sativa plants, a Class 2 felony, and obstructing justice, a Class 4 felony.

According to the state's attorney, Srebnik produced and possessed more than 50 but fewer than 200 marijuana plants in his residence. They say he knowingly destroyed evidence of a crime.

Srebnik's whereabouts are unknown. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

His bail was set at $100,000. If convicted of the most serious offense, Srebnik would face probation or three to seven years in prison.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information on Srebnik or his whereabouts should call (847) 551-3810, or email stopcrime@wdundee.org. Tips can be left anonymously at (847) 586-5600.
