Three charged with stealing from cars in Fox Lake

Two men and a juvenile have been charged with stealing from cars in Fox Lake, police said Monday.

Fox Lake police rolled up on three men carrying back packs just before 3 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Oak Street, police said in a news release. Two of the men appeared to be juveniles out after curfew, police said.

Police later learned the men had burglarized two vehicles on Mariner Lane, according to reports. The stolen property, including clothes, books and backpacks, was all recovered and returned, police said.

Damion M. Amelio, 19, of Fox Lake; Deandre T. Walker, 28, of Chicago, and an unidentified juvenile were all charged with two counts of burglary to motor vehicle. Walker was also charged with obstructing identification.

Amelio and Walker appeared in bond court Sunday morning and were released on a $30,000 recognizance bond. The juvenile was taken to Robert W. Depke Juvenile Complex Center in Vernon Hills.
