Mount Prospect to host document destruction event Aug. 5

The Village of Mount Prospect will host a document destruction event, sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Public Works Facility, 1700 W. Central Road.

Residents from SWANCC communities are eligible. Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools, or institutions, and IDs will be checked for verification of residency (http://www.swancc.org/swancc-member-communities).

Acceptable documents can include medical forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. There is a limit of six file boxes or paper bags, and all plastic, metal clips or binders must be removed. Do not bring paper in plastic bags. Plastic is a contaminant, as are photos, slides, and any non-paper items.

Workers will remove the paper documents while residents stay their vehicles. Paper is cross-shredded on site and will be recycled at a mill to make new paper products. For more information, go to swancc.org or call (847) 724-9205.
