Tip from missing children's organization leads to child porn charges for Elk Grove man

An Elk Grove Village man faces child pornography charges after police received a tip from a national organization dedicated to finding missing children.

Oren Richard Knez III, 19, of the 1300 block of Parker Place, was arrested July 20 after police executed a search warrant of his house, Deputy Chief Nick Olsen said. Knez was charged with possession of child pornography with intent to disseminate - a Class X felony - and possession of child pornography.

The investigation started when the police department got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the investigation, detectives determined images of child pornography had been downloaded off the internet at Knez's residence.

Knez has been released on $50,000 bond. If convicted of the class X felony, he could be sentenced to a minimum of nine years in prison and a fine up to $100,000.
