Heroin awareness walk Saturday in Streamwood

Heroin Awareness Streamwood is hosting its third annual Walk For Wellness 11 a.m. Saturday beginning at St. John's Church, 502 S. Park Blvd., to promote drug awareness, as well as a safer, drug-free community. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge.

The group will be escorted on the 1.5 mile walk which ends back at the church by Streamwood Officer Matt Stasny and his DARE vehicle. The 1.5-mile walk will continue to Irving Park Road and then back to the church.

The walk was created by Streamwood resident Diane Kriescher in response to the loss of young lives. She also has launched a Facebook page, Heroin Awareness Streamwood. For information, email heroinawarenessstreamwood@gmail.com.
