District 59 to propose administration building to Elk Grove plan commission

Elk Grove plan commissioners are set to vote Monday on Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59's proposal to build a new administration building.

The school district is selling its current administration building in Arlington Heights and wants to build a larger 40,000 square facility at 1001 Leicester Road in Elk Grove Village.

The project has drawn criticism as costs rose about a third to roughly $16 million from initial estimates of $12 million.

The district plans to pay for the new building with reserve funds and the $5 million in proceeds from the sale of its current administration building.

The plan commission will decide whether to recommend the project for approval by the village board of trustees.

The meeting is 7 p.m. Monday at village hall at 901 Wellington Ave. in Elk Grove Village.
