Wheaton fire caused by air conditioner

A Wheaton home was damaged Sunday by a fire caused by the home's air conditioning unit, fire officials said.

The blaze started about 2:30 p.m. on the 2000 block of Canterbury Place on the exterior of the single-family home, Wheaton fire officials said in a news release.

The fire extended into an attic area, and the interior sustained smoke and water damage. Nobody was injured. No damage estimates were available Monday night.
