Woman killed in Waukegan shooting identified
A 24-year-old woman shot fatally outside a Waukegan house party early Monday has been identified as Ciera Q. Davis of Waukegan, authorities said Tuesday.
Waukegan police Cmdr. Joe Florip said investigators determined the shooting took place during a confrontation at a social gathering. There is no threat to the community at large, he said.
Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said Davis died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.
"Our condolences go out to the family of Ms. Davis," Cooper said in a news release. "We hope anyone with any relevant information will contact the Waukegan Police Department."
Officers were called to the 1600 block of 11th Street at 4:30 a.m. Monday for a reported shooting. Police arrived to find a shooting scene, but no victim.
A short time later, the police department received a call from an area hospital about a gunshot victim who had been brought to the emergency room for treatment. Davis was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said.
Florip said police continue to investigate the shooting from multiple angles. Anyone with information is asked to call the Waukegan Police Department's "Tip-Line" at (847) 360-9001.
