Man charged in Lake in the Hills home invasion, kidnapping

A 49-year-old man remained at the McHenry County jail Wednesday on charges connected to a Lake in the Hills home invasion and kidnapping.

Louis A. Hernandez was arrested Saturday by the McHenry County sheriff's office and the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills police Wednesday.

Hernandez is charged with home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint, kidnapping and residential burglary, court records show.

Police did a well-being check at 9:23 a.m. Thursday on the 900 block of Mesa Drive, where there was evidence of a home invasion, residential burglary,

strangulation and kidnapping, according to the news release.

An warrant was issued for Hernandez's arrest the same day, and his bond has been set at $30,000. Hernandez is due back in court June 6.
