Strawberry Festival in Elgin raises money for good causes

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin hosted its 44th annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday at the church on Grand Boulevard.

People could enjoy freshly made strawberry shortcake, eat chocolate-covered strawberries and purchase strawberry jam and an assortment of goodies from the bakery.

There was also a flea market, a jewelry room and the Strawberry Patch, featuring one-of-a-kind works of art and themed baskets. There were crafts and a book booth featuring new and gently used books. People could also pick up garden plants.

Proceeds from the event go to the church's Child Development Center, Ecker Center for Mental Health, Hamilton Wings, Sherry Liske's Mission Trip, Open Door Clinic, PADS and YWCA Elgin.
