Irish Fest opens in Mount Prospect

Those who wanted another crack at St. Patrick's Day craic got their chance Friday as Mount Prospect's annual Irish Fest opened in the village's downtown.

The festival continues 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday in a huge, heated tent in the Chase Bank parking lot at the corner of Emerson Street and Busse Avenue, just a block from the Mount Prospect Metra station.

The free festival is highlighted by performances from some of the area's top Celtic musicians. Performers Saturday include Irish Dancers from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., by The Dooley Brothers from 3 to 5 p.m.; the Big League Boys, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and They Might Be Irish, 8 to 11 p.m.

The event also features Irish food and merchandise. For more information, visit www.mpirishfest.com.
