Images of the sinking of the 29,000-ton Italian luxury liner Andrea Doria. Richard Wojcik, a Chicago-area priest and survivor of the infamous maritime disaster, has died. The Andrea Doria was struck by the Swedish-American vessel Stockholm off Nantucket Island, Ma., July 25, 1956. The surviving passengers and crew were rescued before the ship sank in the Atlantic. The steamship measures 697 feet in length and was built in 1953.
