Beerhead in Elmhurst boasts a selection of about 400 brews
Do you love beer? So do the folks at Beerhead Bar & Eatery. This friendly corner bar takes its beer selection seriously. The new location opened its doors in July in downtown Elmhurst and is already finding a fan base.
Motif: Enjoy the breeze wafting from the windows, take a seat in a lovely sidewalk section or huddle up to the bar. You won't have a hard time finding a place to sit at Beerhead, at least on weekdays. Twenty seats are situated at the bar top and more than 10 long tables provide room for groups.
Food: Although Beerhead is geared toward those craving a pint, the food menu could be the star of the show. My companion and I frequent The Beer Market (Beerhead is their parent company), therefore, we knew a Belgian Soft Pretzel was in order. This massive, entree-size pretzel easily feeds two people. If you bypass that pick, other starters range from the Angry Carne pork and beef meatballs - topped with a spicy red sauce - to a cheesy artichoke dip. Sandwiches include pulled pork, a black bean burger, chicken salad and more. The pizza is also wonderful. Think bar food with a fresh, tasty twist.

Liquid consumption: While chatting with the bartender about how many taps, cans and bottles are in the establishment - 50 taps and more than 350 bottles/cans - we asked if anyone comes in to order a really basic domestic beer when so many other interesting options are available. The short answer was, yes, of course. But Beerhead offers samples of craft beer to those individuals who may need assistance in expanding their palate. The beer menu is a work of art with sections for every style of beer, and coolers marked by origin country. There are many local brewery options, and just as many out-of-towners and ciders. We noticed Beerhead is preparing for cooler temperatures with a half dozen stouts and porters on tap ready to warm you up. From regular beer varieties to a rotating selection of rarer bottles, you will find your perfect pint (or snifter). Water, soda and nonalcoholic beer are also available.

Service: The bartenders were kind and more than happy to share their extensive beer knowledge. Be sure to ask for samples and discover something new!
Music: Alternative and rock music plays at a moderate volume. The bar also features local live music from time to time.
Crowd: Beerhead is busy on weekends, casual and populated by all age ranges.

Parking: On a weekday evening, we parked directly in front, but there's other parking nearby if you're not so lucky.
Overall: Ready to chow down on delicious bar food with a mind-boggling array of beer choices? Don't miss out on Beerhead. In the words of a Beerhead bartender, “If you don't find something you like here, you weren't meant to drink beer.”
