Restricted voter rights

Well, it's another primary season and again I am denied the rights to vote for the candidate of my choice. Why? Because I am forced to choose a straight party ballot. Not only that but I must tell the poll watchers what party I am voting for. Our politicians in Springfield may not agree, but there are some good Republicans as there are some good Democrats, but I am denied the right to choose. I understand California has an open primary and Illinois should follow their example.
