House candidate is smart, independent

After meeting with all three candidates who filed to run in the Democratic primary for the open House seat in District 59 currently held by Carol Sente, I concluded that Susan Malter exemplifies the type of candidate who I believe would best represent the district.

She is smart, independent thinking, committed to progressive reforms and has a strong record of long-term compassionate dedication to stepping up and working to address people needs ranging from her setting up a nonprofit organization focused on education to filling the service gap for kids and families with health and social services to volunteering earlier this year to assist dreamers with DACA renewal applications and to resisting Trump's racist and illegal travel ban.

I was especially impressed with her knowledge on a wide range of issues and her commitment to researching problems facing the state and pounding the pavement to listen and hear the concerns of residents in all corners of the district. From my conversations with her,it is clear Susan is a people person who will work well with others on both sides of the aisle to find solutions, and who will work tirelessly to implement real change, like a more fair tax system and getting the redistricting out of the backrooms and into the sunshine with independent maps, and fighting for reasonable gun safety legislation.

Though the two other candidates may be well intentioned and capable, Susan is clearly the strongest and best candidate with the demeanor, drive, intellect and compassion that will command respect to get needed things done. Susan is a woman of action who has stepped up to serve, and merits your support and vote in the upcoming Democratic primary. Please join me in supporting and voting for Susan Malter.
