Remember the reason for the season

The biblical account of the birth of Jesus, found in Luke 2, tells us that while shepherds were watching their flocks, an angel announced: "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Later, in the same chapter, those same shepherds traveled to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph and the baby in a manger.

While there may be some debate as to Dec. 25 being the actual day of Jesus' birth, it has historically and traditionally been observed as the day Christians, around the World, celebrate his birth. The United States officially recognized Dec. 25 as a federal holiday, by making it a law in June of 1870, and today it is still the day we celebrate his birth.

Keeping Christ in Christmas is important to celebrating Christmas for without Jesus' birth, Dec. 25 would just be another day on the calendar.

During this season, let's take a moment to reflect on Him and remember that "Jesus is the reason for the season." Merry Christmas!
