Rushed tax reform bill is devastating

Following the narrowly passed House version of tax reform, Paul Ryan crowed "we're excited" - presumably "we" meaning the 227 Republican representatives who voted for the horrendous bill - to see the bill move to conference committee to make the bill "even better."

Even better?! Why couldn't the House Republicans come up with a better bill before they passed it? Republicans have had control of the House for years and have accomplished nothing. Have they now rushed to pass a poorly drawn bill to soothe the damaged ego of their standard-bearer and to fulfill his demand for a win?

This supposed tax reform will have devastating impact on the middle-class, housing, charities, the ill and elderly, students wanting to further their education … and many untold and unforeseen others. Illinois will be especially harmed by this scam of a tax reform and yet our Republican representatives fell into step with their colleagues to throw their constituents under the bus.
