His private presidency

At his impromptu news conference on the White House lawn the other day, President Trump repeatedly referred to "HIS Generals" and "HIS Military'. Really? I always thought they were "Our Generals" and "Our Military"! He is the only president in my memory (7) that has referred to these groups as HIS and not OURS. But what can you expect from someone who idolizes the dictators of Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, China and the Philippines and who also thinks that the other branches of government are subservient to him? But what can you expect when more than half of his supporters would be OK with postponing the next election if Trump wanted it?

And this is a man who bamboozled a minority of the voting population of the country into believing that he was going to "drain the swamp." Judging by the integrity of many of the cabinet that have been installed so far, he might claim to have trained the swamp, but that was only so he could make room for his private cesspool. Oh, if we all could only use private jets (at taxpayer expense) to hunt in Montana, honeymoon at Fort Knox so he could watch the eclipse from the top of the building and wander around Europe with a few moments devoted to an actual official event.

Next time you step into a voting booth (should we actually get another chance), kindly bring your common sense with you. You already had your flight-of-fancy. And, for goodness sake, the ones that didn't bother to vote get off your duff and cast your ballot.
