Why Buffalo Grove is great place to live

Here's a reason why I think Buffalo Grove is a Best Place to live.

Unknown to me, my neighbor had a major accident and is confined to a wheelchair. She also has three young children.

One day I noticed several vehicles and a large group of people in front of her house. One of the vehicles was a police car. Thinking something was wrong I checked it out. That's when I found out about the accident and wheelchair.

I also found out the large group of people were mainly Village of Buffalo Grove employees who were volunteering their time to build a wheelchair ramp from my neighbor's front door to the sidewalk.

The dedication of this village volunteer group was amazing. They spent two full days on the project, pouring concrete footings and building the wooden ramp. It wasn't an easy project. Also, the work was done on days when the temperature was in the nineties.

The completed ramp is as good as they come and looks as if a professional construction team built it. It's very impressive.

I was highly impressed with the fact that a group of village volunteers from various village departments, upon finding out about my neighbor's predicament would take on such a project. The compassion and dedication of the village and its employees should be recognized and reported.

In my 47 years as a Buffalo Grove resident I have seen many things done by the village that are impressive, but this one is in a category of its own and, again, makes me proud to live in Buffalo Grove. Thank you to all who participated in this project.
