Storms' reminder

Storms across the gulf states, the Atlantic coast and other southeastern states are beginning to subside and the monumental task of rebuilding has begun. We've witnessed an outpouring of love, of people helping people without regard to race, religion, national origin or political persuasion. It will take a long time to rebuild and an even longer time for the psychological wounds of many the victims to heal. But perhaps we have learned some lessons. And maybe, just maybe we can work together to bridge the gap between all our predjudices and polical differences. Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, gay or straight, no matter what color or creed, we all occupy our little space in this country and indeed on this planet. In spite of our differences, we must learn to live and work together.

We couldn't defeat Harvey and Irma. No, but we endured. We did that because of our willingness to help our fellow human being. Perhaps in the same way, we can eliminate the effects of another storm that threatens our well being.

That is the hatred that so consumes our political landscape today. If we can't, it will surely destroy us. We are only here for a little while. It behooves us to do our best to eliminate this disease and leave our grandchildren a better world.
