GOP must stand up to this pettiness
Our GOP Congress must stand up to their petty, vindictive and dangerous standard-bearer before he drains our great nation of its integrity and moral values and weakens our country with divisiveness.
Our Republican representatives must declare "I am not afraid" of a self-serving bully who attacks our free press, is trying to erase banking and environmental regulations meant to protect us, threatens to shut down our government and promotes intolerance and bigotry.
We must urge our GOP Congress to join with their Democratic colleagues in working toward improving our health care and education systems, repairing our infrastructure, reforming immigration, protecting our voting rights, moving our country toward clean energy, creating job training programs to address the needs of our future, finding diplomatic solutions to conflict … the list is long and cannot be ignored.
Our wonderful, diverse nation has never been afraid to stand up and speak out against those who don't respect the principles on which our country was founded. We must all loudly declare "I am not afraid" of a man who has abandoned the role of leader of the free world as he flatters dictators, kowtows to Putin, defends racists and sexual predators and denigrates the power of our institutions, emboldening extremists toward violence and authoritarian hostile nations to escalate their aggression and repression.
We must seek out and elect leaders who are champions of democracy, defenders of our principles, protectors of our environment and who will unite our country with civility and diplomacy. We are not afraid and we must urge our GOP Congress not to be afraid.
