Destroying statues is destroying history

It sickens me to read all the stories about the Southern statues being torn down. Why are we as a society allowing this to happen? I'm born and raised In the North. I have no connection with the South or these statues. However, I recognize that these statues represent a part of our country's history.

Where do we draw the line? What about the monuments to Washington and Lincoln in Washington, D. C.? What about the Jewish people? Does this mean we destroy their museum and artifacts because of their hatred toward the Germans / Hitler? No, we honor their lives and contributions to our country's growth, allowing us to develop as a nation.

We are not Southerners and we are not Northerners. We are Americans. Imagine what other countries are thinking of us when they see all the confusion in our handling of our heritage.

Please, wake up and get on your knees.

If our leaders in Washington, D.C., don't get their heads out of the sand, we will not have a country left to enjoy. Let's not let a few ruin our country. Stand up and be counted while you can.
