How does Mideast involvement help?

The Afghanistan War began Oct. 1, 2001, almost 16 years ago with no end in sight. I wonder if anybody has any idea what an end to that war would even look like. During that time, we invaded Iraq for nebulous reasons. We took out a cruel and ruthless dictator, but it's still an unstable and dangerous place. We changed it, but we didn't make it better. Supposedly we aren't fighting there anymore. But we're still there.

So we've been at war in the Mideast for 16 years, a place on the other side of the world where wars have been going on for centuries. The wars we've been involved in have come at a staggering price. They've taken many lives, devastated families and cost us billions of dollars. Yet we keep squandering resources there.

Does anyone out there really believe we are better off because of it?
