Defending quality

I read the Daily Herald article about the mechanics strike on Aug. 2 and fully support their desire for adequate time to safely complete repairs. I recently purchased struts, shocks and four new tires from a local shop and I believe that if the mechanic who serviced my car had taken his time, he might have remembered to tighten the bolts in both front wheels, preventing the right front wheel from falling off and destroying the new tire. Fortunately for my daughter, who was driving, and my 12-year-old grandson, the wheel fell off after they had driven to Bloomington, Illinois, and arrived at their hotel. Happily, there were no injuries.
