We need leaders who stand up for everyone

I look around and see that we have become a greedy, selfish society. Kids are unsupervised as both parents have to work to pay the bills. Families are expected to pay all sorts of fees to the schools that used to be paid by the taxpayers. Meanwhile the rich keep getting richer. Why does anyone need more than one house? All that money is not going to go with you when you die and we all will someday.

We badly need a graduated income tax in order to fund the needs of our children and all of our citizens who cannot provide for themselves. As a child during the Depression, I remember everyone sharing the little they had. When a hobo came to our door and he was hungry, my mother made him a sandwich. They were the heroes and heroines who made our country great. It is time to get back to doing for others as you would have others do for you.

Instead of representatives who are beholden to business and big money to get elected, we need people who are true statesmen standing up for all citizens especially the less fortunate among us, even if it means losing an election.
