Poor enforcement creates pedestrian danger

I have been reading the fuss lately over pedestrian right of way in Illinois.

Your problem is lack of enforcement here. We moved from Southern California and were terrified when we crossed streets here in Schaumburg and Algonquin. There is complete disregard for the pedestrian.

In California, when a person steps off the curb, traffic flow stops! Tickets are automatic and fines are strong.

Until the police in this state get on the stick and start strong enforcement of crosswalks, you will continue to have a dangerous situation for pedestrians. Get your politicians to write and demand enforcement of laws to protect walkers and runners. The fines might help offset the billion dollars in budget shortfall this state suffers.
