Quinn's true tenure

It was interesting to read in the "Guest View" by Gov. Pat Quinn on how he had meaningful symbols of his time as Illinois governor strategically added to his portrait that now hangs in our state Capitol for future generations to enjoy.

His writings, as well as the content of his portrait, are what you'd expect - a laundry list of his "accomplishments" as the leader of Illinois, which fell to the lowest decile in the nation in nearly every economic category measured. He somehow managed to omit any reference to the federal investigation of his anti-violence program which was rife with mismanagement while the shootings and murder rates in Chicago led the nation. It would have been interesting to see a group photo of all the unqualified relatives and friends who got IDOT jobs.

One wonders how there is no symbolic connection in the portrait of his former running mate Rod Blagojevich, whom Quinn endorsed as "always been a person who's honest and of integrity." The placement of Gov. Quinn's self-aggrandizing diatribe is appropriate, where on Saturdays much of this page is reserved for cartoons.
