Vehicle fire in Sugar Grove home's garage causes $400,000 in damage

A Tuesday night vehicle fire inside the garage of a Sugar Grove home caused an estimated $400,000 in damage.

Sugar Grove Fire Protection District officials said firefighters were called to the home on 1000 block of Pembridge Place at about 8:50 p.m. for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle inside the attached garage was ablaze and upgraded the response.

Two more vehicles inside the garage also caught on fire and the blaze ultimately extended into the attic area of the home as well.

No injuries were reported as the residents of the house were able to escape before firefighters arrived.

The blaze was brought under control within 30 minutes.

While the living area of the home suffered no fire damage, it did sustain significant smoke damage, fire officials said. It was deemed uninhabitable.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force, fire officials said.
