St. Michael School welcomes new principal

Adam Ferguson may be a newcomer to his role as principal of St. Michael Parish School in Wheaton, but he brings to the position several years of experience as an educator in the community.

Ferguson took the helm of St. Michael on July 1, succeeding Lisa Brown, who left St. Michael after serving three years at the school and 13 in the Diocese of Joliet.

An experienced educator, Ferguson most recently served as assistant principal at Hubble Middle School in Wheaton from 2014-17. At St. Michael, he leads a school that serves preschool through eighth grade.

Ferguson "differentiated himself with his leadership, collaborative nature and enthusiasm, and I am confident that he will be a wonderful servant leader for our parish school," said the Rev. Dan Hoehn, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Community members may recognize Ferguson, a local educator who began his teaching career as a special-education teacher at Kennedy Junior High School in Naperville Unit District 203.

After earning a master's in education administration and leadership, he began his administrative career as director of special services in Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 in 2010 before becoming assistant principal of Hubble Middle School for the last three years.

Ferguson expressed enthusiasm about his new role.

"I am honored to partner with each of you to continue the rich tradition of academic excellence and Catholic-based education, which St. Michael Parish School has been known for in our community," he said.

He invited school families to "stop in and say hello."
