Elgin museum teaches kids natural egg dyeing

The Elgin Public Museum conducted a program Saturday called natural egg dyeing.

Kids say how many different natural dyes from things like onion skins, turmeric and berries can be used to color eggs. The technique comes from pioneer days, when artificial dyes and food coloring were not available.

Kids also could use modern techniques such as crayons and rubber bands to create beautiful designs and get recipes so they can do their own natural egg dyeing at home.
