'Thoroughly Modern Millie' coming to Lake Park

Lake Park High School students will step back into the Roaring Twenties when they present the Broadway hit "Thoroughly Modern Millie" over four days this month.

The musical will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 27 to 29, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the school's East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Senior citizens, kids younger than 13 and Lake Park students with ID are admitted free.

The show focuses on Millie Dillmount, a plucky, small-town girl who searches for love and adventure in New York City and stumbles into the Hotel Priscilla, a boardinghouse for single women.

The hotel is run by Mrs. Meers, a woman who is not the lady she appears to be. There, Millie discovers a shocking truth and falls in love with Jimmy Smith.

"I chose this show because of the colorful characters, jazzy music and tap dance numbers," Director Kathy Weber said. "It is a fun tribute to life in 1922."

The cast features Angela Krokos as Millie, Giuliano Catalano as Jimmy Smith and Grace Tolentino as Mrs. Meers. Other cast members are Grace Biernacki, Michael Pavone, Ben Barbanente, Alex Park, Amanda Brommel and Nicolette Pilalis.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. For details, visit lptheatreboxoffice@lphs.org or call (630) 295-5313.
