Plane makes 'belly landing' at Chicago Executive Airport
No one was injured after a Beechcraft airplane made a "belly landing" Sunday evening at Chicago Executive Airport, officials said.
Officials estimate the plane was traveling up to 100 mph when the two-engine Beechcraft King Air hit the runway without landing gear down about 5 p.m., airport spokesman Rob Mark said.
Propellers on the airplane were mangled by the landing, but neither the pilot nor his passenger were injured.
"The airplane stops pretty quick that way," he said.
It's unclear whether the landing gear malfunctioned.
Airport employees tested the landing gear and found it was in working condition, Mark said.
