Rush to break ground Monday in Oak Brook
DuPage County and Rush University Medical Center officials are expected to break ground Monday on a new $65 million outpatient medical building at 2011 York Road in Oak Brook.
The three-story, 100,000-square-foot building, which will house about 100 workers, is set to open in spring 2019 and include an outpatient surgery center and specialists in various medical conditions.
“When we looked at where the majority of our patients were coming from, about 68 percent were from outside of the city of Chicago, so we were looking for a location that would serve many of them,” said Charles Bush-Joseph, managing partner of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, which also will occupy part of the new building.
Rush announced the new center last year after state and local officials approved the plan. The ground breaking ceremony Monday is expected to include Bush-Joseph, along with Rush University Medical Center CEO Larry Goodman and President Michael Dandorph, DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, Oak Brook Village President Gopal Lalmalani and others.
Rush looked at various suburbs along the I-294 corridor, including Northbrook and Burr Ridge, and selected Oak Brook. No state or local incentives were provided, Bush-Joseph said.
The center will feature 17 specialties, including primary care, bariatric surgery, endocrinology, neurology and otolaryngology. It also will have outpatient surgical suites, 65 exam rooms, physical and occupational therapy, and full imaging services, including a comprehensive breast imaging program.
Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush will be on the first floor, with 16 patient exam rooms, a cast room, physical therapy, occupational therapy, MRI and X-ray services.
The second floor will have 50 patient exam rooms, seven procedure rooms, CT and X-ray imaging as well as a comprehensive breast imaging program with ultrasound.
The third floor will be an outpatient surgery center where musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal and other surgical procedures will be performed.
The surgery center will include six operating rooms and two procedure rooms.
